Knock-knock! Who's there? I'm ENGAGED!!! AHH!

WELL I'm back! Ryan surprised me with a trip to Paris for my birthday!
Right after he let me in on the secret we did some speed Paris-clothes shopping!

Not only did Ryan surprise me with the trip...the last night of our stay we were out exploring and he brings me to this church called The Sacré-Cœur Basilica (which means the church of the sacred heart). It sits on a hill in Montmartre that overlooks all of Paris! It was beautiful. THEN HE PROPOSED! I cried and cried when he asked then he asked again because I was too busy crying to answer! So we're engaged. He gave me a silver band because we're picking out my ring together. The band is quite big on me because I have what he calls "freakishly tiny (but beautiful) fingers".

Then we got lost for 3 hours. He doesn't want to admit it...infact he is arguing with me about it right now while I'm typing this - laughing. I mean we were LOST and there was NO ONE in sight. We finally got back to the hotel safe and sound (at 2am).

So now that all the family and friends know now it seems like it's even more REAL!

I will be going back to Florida in september because if I don't I'd never see England again! So we just need to start sorting out dates and visa's. (fiance/marriage visa)

A fiance visa means you can go to the UK for 6 months with proof that we'll be getting married. (for example: dress, invite, venue contract ect...) and we HAVE TO get married before the 6 months are up. And on top of that we need to sort out the marriage visa too...which means I can work in the UK and have insurance ect.

I wasn't really one of those girls that spends her life dreaming about her wedding day. But all of the sudden I've become obsessed with wedding blogs and collecting ideas and pictures.

Ryan and I have pretty similar tastes. I think planning the decor and things will be natural, pretty and romantic. It's all the legal stuff that's going to be complicated and frustrating!

I hope I get lots of advice because I know I'll need it!! My best friend Brittany who JUST had a wedding will be helpful. I'll steal all of her wise wedding knowledge. When I told her the news all she could talk about was how I'll be making her get on a plane and fly across the ocean!!

I think for the time being I'm just going to enjoy being a fiance. :)

THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR ALL THE BIRTHDAY AND ENGAGEMENT MESSAGES I'VE BEEN GETTING!

stay tuned...

also - wash your hands...a lot. hope everyone stays safe and healthy!

Alright I have to whine and complain about the grocery stores in the UK. It's neat to see all the different things that I never saw in America but I really wish they had some of the STAPLES I bought and have been forced to live without at the moment!

My friends and family have been asking what I'd like from the US that I can't get here. I don't want anything expensive BUT I do have a long list of little things I'd absolutely love to see again. Most of these are going to sound weird.

  • TARGET! (just kidding...kinda oh and Taco Bell- I'll keep dreaming.)
  • macaroni and cheese
  • alfredo sauce (yes they REALLY don't have it here)
  • tostitos rounds or ANY kind of tortilla chips
  • salad dressing (I eat a salad at least every other day. they have very few to choose from and they taste completely different. i miss dressings like: ranch (yes plain old ranch!), catalina, poppy seed, chunky blue cheese, french, cheese fantastico! oh how i miss you)
  • bottled starbucks vanilla frappuccinos(yes they have starbucks but no they do not have them like they have the bottles EVERYWHERE in the us.)
  • Top Ramen and Cup-o-Noodle - (beef, chicken i love you all. hmph)
  • Jelly Bellies
  • Triscuits
  • Boxed cheesecakes and brownies
  • Packaged Pizza crusts
  • HAMBURGER HELPER
  • Gushers
  • Poptarts!
  • QUESO DIP
So pretty much anything that looks yummy.

That's all I can think of right now. Could you imagine living without those thngs? Yeah OK I've been eating healthier - BUT THAT'S NO FUN! :P

P.s. If anyone sends me something I'll send English things in return!
I bought one of my favorite dresses ever the other day. I haven't worn it yet but HOPEFULLY I'll have an occasion soon to wear it to. (BIRTHDAY BIRTHDAY BIRTHDAY)

Ryan also got me a phone! It's a cute, pink phone. He had like 5 days off of work so we got to spend lots of time together. He's working a bunch now...9 days in a row but then he has 2 weeks off! woo!

We've been cooking a lot more recently... well mostly Ryan but we try to keep it even. Last night was from a chicken cookbook I bought him for Christmas - Grilled Chicken-Cheddar Sandwiches with veggies and mashed potatoes...the pictures never look as good.

Ok bye!

P.s. I've applied to Teachers Assistant positions at Primary Schools here!
Cross your fingers!

Happy Easter

Tuesday, April 7, 2009

I've been back in England now for about 3 weeks. The weather here is the same as I had left it - TOTALLY UNPREDICTABLE. I think I always know it isn't going to be perfect though. The best days I've seen were when Ryan and I went to his parents house in Bristol. I LOVE it out there. It's just green fields, cows, horses, sheep, ducks and swans. I love how it looks like I've stepped into a scene from The Secret Garden. The roads are long and narrow with stone walls on both sides. It's a little scary when we're driving at night time but it's really kind of like an adventure. Ryan knows those roads because he grew up there but I have no idea what they're like!

It was a nice weekend but we made the trip under unfortunate circumstances. Ryan's Nan had passed away and the funeral was being held in Bath. Even though it was hard and a sad time for the family, everyone was together and Ryan's sister Lucy and her husband Julien flew in from France with good news. Lucy is having a baby- she's 2 months pregnant! Ryan's Mom is already trying to pick out clothes for ...whatever it's going to be! But Lucy doesn't even have a bump yet so it's going to be a while.

We'll be visiting them again in a few months (hopefully!). I loved it out there. I took 1,000 pictures of everything I saw. Even if it was an old door or a cat in an alley. Everything looked like it could be a postcard! Plus the weather was awesome.

So now what I'm trying to get together is all my Yoga stuff. I've found a few places nearby but I'm really missing the place I was going to in Florida. I have a few choices. Some are in schools and some are in converted houses. I'm trying to avoid going to the LA Fitness classes that were pretty boring...even though last year I was here I thought the instructor was trying to kill me. I'd like to continue practicing Ashtanga Yoga.

Ryan bought me a Nintendo DS to play around with and we bought some new games - Brain Training, Nintendogs, Disney Tetris thing, Let's Yoga - (which is awesome!). I got Nintendogs because I can't stand not having an animal around! It isn't the same of course but I needed SOMETHING! He's an Australian Shepherd puppy. I named him Josep - no h. (see; Jo Koy - Comedy Central)

I've been what Ryan and his Mom call "nesting" here. I've already bought a new shower curtain and rugs. He keeps telling me not to buy stuff but I can't help it. Boys don't go out and buy those things!!! If I'm going to be comfortable here I'm going to have to make it comfy to me. He doesn't mind. It's better than the RUBBER DUCKY curtain they had before. Boys...

I've started cooking - a little. I've already got some dishes I know I can cook from the top of my head - Enchiladas, Chicken Casserole, Homemade Macaroni & Cheese... ok yeah I think that's it. But hey!! It's better than nothing. We've started making a list of what we're going to make each day for a week (ok we just started this week) and we shopped for everything yesterday. Today is Smoked Salmon w/ Cous Cous and Asparagus. Oo la la! That's all Ryan there. I think this week I have Enchiladas, Baked Ziti and ...something else I can't remember right now.

Wow this entry is so boring... I'm writing about weather and food. Nothing super exciting is happening really. We've
visited with friends and had dinners at their place. A bunch of us played this really funny Wii game with "Rabbids". Ryan's flatmate has a Wii but has lent it to someone so I hope he gets it back soon so I can play!!

Oh I have a Twitter (un: Okay_Tea) account now but no phone, I think I'll look around for one soon but I dont REEALLY need a cell right now. (I've gone without a cellphone for a year and 3 months. crazy huh? I dunno why! Just haven't really needed one.)

Well no plans right now for anything... I asked what we should do for my birthday but Ryan keeps shhing me about it so there's something going on there. He knows I hate surprises so I'm sure I'll get it out of him!

More later!
